NTCA 2023 Community Investment Showcase

We are proud to be awarded funding through an incredible grant program funded by the North Tahoe Community Alliance, which will allow us to expand our tourism impact mitigation projects with Keep Tahoe Blue to the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

We are so grateful for this NTCA partnership as their mission is to fund projects that promote economic health, community vitality, and environmental sustainability that directly benefit residents, businesses, and visitors throughout Lake Tahoe.

The NTCA Sponsorship and Multi-Year Investment Program was created to leverage Transient Occupancy Tax and assessments from the NLT-TBID in support of priority projects, programs, services, or maintenance activities that require annual financial support to achieve success and realize community goals over three years (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2026).

In its inaugural year, nearly 40 applications requested funding for projects that align with the NTCA’s mission to achieve economic health, community vitality, and environmental stewardship.

Ultimately, 17 projects were selected by the four volunteer committees the NTCA convenes (TBID Advisory, TBID Zone 1, TOT and CAP committees) and approved by the NTCA Board of Directors and the Placer County Board of Supervisors to receive up to $20,027,558 in funding support over three years. These grants unlock matching funding of up to $35,383,799 that can be leveraged, bringing the total funding investment to $55,411,357 over the next three years.

Our project will include a 3-year deployment of the BEBOT Beach Cleaning Robot to detect and remove debris including potentially harmful microplastics on North Lake Tahoe beaches. Our project will also include community events to promote youth/adult education around our sustainable technologies, encouraging advocacy in North Lake Tahoe.

Thank you to everyone who has shown support of our mission of creating sustainable tourism in Lake Tahoe. The future is bright and we're just getting started!
